[Travel] Melbourne (Summary) : Where to Stay | Larwill Studio and Adelphi Hotel | sillyandordinarygirl

Disclaimer: This post will be based on our own experience and personal review only!
Does it mean that we highly recommend these places? In our humble opinion, YES! (BUT, please take note that our preferences, budgets, length of stay etc might differ from yours, so if this list helps you or suits you, feel free to use it as your reference :))
Sorry in advance that I can't recommend other places or food that we haven't tried ourselves, it will not be an honest recommendation. So, if there's any that doesn't make it to the list, it is either not recommended (by me! Different opinion may apply!) or we simply haven't had a chance to try it out yet, hence we don't have any opinion about it. :D
Well, during our five nights stay in Melbourne, we could only stay at two different hotels. I guess you might say, "But, you had 5 nights? So, why didn't you stay in 5 different hotels? One for each night?" Sorry, but we're lazy people :P Haha jokes aside, we don't really like packing and unpacking, checking in and checking out every single day. It's just time-and-energy-consuming, we think. We preferred to do it this way. :) Anyway, while researching for where to stay, we agreed that we'd book one hotel in the CBD area and another one that can be a little bit far from downtown area but one that we would be excited to stay.

The Art Series hotel was the latter. We were scrolling through the list of hotels in Melbourne when we came across the Art Series hotels. There are several hotels under the group, currently in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. In Melbourne alone, you can find four of them, each in different location. As of why we finally went with the Larwill Studio, tbh, because it offered the cheapest rate among the others XD (well, of course, it is a 4-star hotel, while the others are 5 stars).
But I can assure you that even though we made the choice based on the rate and our budget, (travelling to Australia as an Indonesian indeed felt like everything is so expensive 😅(。ŏ_ŏ)), staying at this hotel was one of our best decisions during the trip. We enjoyed it soooo much, you can read more of what we think of the stay here . Overall, I would definitely recommend you to have a stay here. If I have the chance to visit Melbourne again, I would love to try the other Art Series hotel too.
The Art Series hotels are inspired by and dedicated to Australian contemporary artists; hence, each hotel is named after the artist: The Larwill (David Larwill), The Cullen (Adam Cullen), The Olsen (Dr John Olsen), and The Chen (Zhong Chen).
"Each hotel takes design inspiration from the namesake artist. With original artworks and prints adorning the walls and halls, the multifaceted art inspired experience is complete with dedicated art channels, art libraries, art tours and art utensils on supply." -https://www.artserieshotels.com.au/

2. Adelphi Hotel
Touted as the world's first dessert hotel, this 4-star hotel won Victoria's Best Boutique Hotel Award three years in a row. Adelphi is mentioned in most websites or references while we're searching for the recommended places to stay in the CBD area. The design itself is so artistic, especially the lobby; And, the location is perfect, if you're looking for a hotel right in the middle of the downtown area that has almost everything (railway station, shopping centers, museums, and lots of great cafes and restaurants) within walking distance. More details of our stay can be found here

We loved the personalised message. You probably gonna laugh at me for being too easily pleased over something this trivial XD, but hey, who doesn't like to be welcomed with this beautiful message written especially for us? XXD
Overall, we indeed had a lovely stay. As it is very strategically located, it's really nice that we could find almost everything around the hotel area and we could simply walk back to the hotel, without having to worry whether we'd missed the tram or waiting at the right stop etc. However, we did find that the light in the room was a little bit too yellow for us, (it's probably because we're more used to brighter rooms with whiter lamps), so at night, it was a bit too yellowish for us to do anything else, like checking our phones or reading. But again, it is our own preference, maybe it is indeed better with yellow lights to induce a more fitful sleep. The point is, if you're like us, and you prefer brighter rooms, maybe you can consider this. This is also the reason why I didn't take many photos of the room when we first entered it. It was night when we checked in, and everything was just yellowish (。ŏ_ŏ) and when we checked out, it was so messy, and we didn't feel like tidying it up for the sake of taking photos, so yeah :E
Don't forget to check out their rooftop pool with glass-bottomed end that sticks out two meters from the hotel's facade, hovering above Flinders Lane.

Room Type: Premium Twin (around 600 AUD for 2 nights with no breakfast)
