Hi, you!
Terribly sorry for my absence for these two weeks.
Got really busy as the exam week was coming, and we only had not until 3 weeks to prepare for the exams, yet I wanted to finish all the work before the 14th May, so that I could take leave with no work-related things dangling in my mind. All for one reason, the hiking trip!!! Was so excited to go because I totally needed refreshing, and I heard the views from the top was AMAZING!
Soooo, here's the travel diary of our trip for 3 days and 2 nights in Brastagi, North Sumatra. I'll divide it into 3 parts, each part for each day :)
14th May 2015, 7.30 a.m., gathered at G-8 base camp, waited for +Daniel Jiang and his brother to get ready and finally set off at 8.30 a.m.
As everyone was still so hyped, none of us fell asleep on the way to Brastagi. We had so much to talk about and so much to laugh at. :D:D When we had reached Brastagi, we made a stop for a while at a neighbourhood, which is quite obscure, with some "foreign-style" villas, (there are some villas with western style, Japanese style or even Balinese style!). This area can be reached from the road next to Tebu Manis. There is a field where we can snap some nice pictures with a good background (green here and there). :) Although according to Mr. Photographer, +Daniel Jiang , the view wasn't good enough haha
Some snaps there:
The homestay itself is located in a very strategic location. It is not far from town, and it has amazing views from front and back. You can see mountains from any side of the homestay. There's also a mini-market only 5 metres away. Oh, they also have Sibayak Mountain Hiking programme (with tour guide included- he is super humorouss and he can speak French and English fluently), and we can also sign up for their cooking class, they will be teaching us how to cook Arsik (the well-known fish dish from Brastagi) :d
If you ever want to stay in Brastagi, I superpositively recommend this homestay. The best in town! :D
p.s.: The rooms are really affordable too :p and btw, it is named after their eldest daughter, Nachelle, who is a very cuteeee little girl :)
Btw, when we stayed there, coincidentally we met two Germans staying there too. They are so friendly :) It's nice meeting them there.
Here's few things that we did in the first day's afternoon in the homestay while waiting for the rain to stop: Playing silly card games (with truth and dare as the punishment), snacking, trying to block each other's face from the camera, jokingly struggling to move one another's lying body and even had our teeth checked by dentist to-be, Mr. Wesley Khuang. :E
When night came, we went out to town and had dinner. We had some Indonesian food and bought some Martabak Bangka and Martabak Mesir back to homestay(as supper, hihi). Nom nom. :d We walked home and never stopped talking the whole way back. *sanguine-overloaded *peace haha
We had to sleep at 10 pm in order to be able to wake up at 3.30 am to prepare for the hiking, but as usual, whenever I travel, I couldn't sleep well at the first night, because it's hard for me to fall asleep in a new place and on a different bed. I was very frustrated seeing +Winda Chai and +Diana Liu sleeping so well beside me. T.T
It kinda felt like I only slept for not until 30 minutes, then we had to wake up already. :( (I really envy those who can sleep well wherever they are)
When all of us woke up, +Erick Young and +Diana Liu told me that they couldn't sleep either. In fact, when I thought she was sleeping well, she didn't. She was just lying there beside me, thinking that I had slept too haha. Three of us shared the same problems. But, we're still excited anyway. Haha Somehow the excitement overpowered the lack of sleep. :) Maybe this is the power of travelling, we never get the chance to feel tired as we're excited for the adventure that's been waiting for us. :D
To be continued...
Stay tune! :):)
